A few years ago, I painted a very similar scene in a larger format and that painting was included in my show at Gallery 78 in 2022.

I took a few liberties with this smaller version. I made the steeple of Christ Church Cathedral, as well as the tower of the Legislative Building, the green colour of oxidized copper. This is the colour that I remembered and saw for most of my life until the copper roofing was replaced several years ago. I don't know how long it will take for this newer copper to turn that nice old green colour again. Perhaps not in my lifetime.

I also introduced a pine bough in the foreground. I think the bough adds to the depth perception of the view and its rhythmic shape echoes the arch shapes on the bridge trusses.
