My dealer in Fredericton, Gallery 78, has produced a video of me working on the painting "The Last Row".  In the video I explain the egg tempera medium that I use.

Also, I am trying to build my email newsletter list so I would ask that you consider signing up for it.  There is a place for joining at the bottom right of any page on this website.  I promise not to torture you with endless emails.  Once every month or so at most, and only one page long.

Hi David,

Meant to write after your last blog post, how much I like the oval shape... and now listening to/watching your video, I realize that is to a large extent because I enjoy the curves and softness of many of your landscapes: the oval shape does indeed complement nature.

I'm sure some subjects lean more towards the curved perimeter than others, so will look forward to how you use this down the road... will you be turning the oval on its side, so to speak?

The video, though short, clearly lays out the nature of egg tempera, and why you enjoy working in it. It's a great addition to your website, and the Gallery's as well.

Dina,
Your comment about laying the oval on it's side brings up a preference that I can't explain. I fully intend to paint with the oval horizontally in the future but for some reason the last two paintings, and the new one that is still only a vague image in my mind, were first thought of in the vertical position. I have painted horizontal pieces in the past, and I think most people prefer that format, but when I have an idea for a painting the shape, size and position all seem to come to mind together at the same time, and I dare not tinker too much with the original concept because it can vanish very easily.
