I am very happy to announce that Senator David Adams Richards has selected me as a recipient of the Senate 150 Anniversary Medal.

Each Senator received twelve medals to distribute to Canadian citizens.  Their website states that the medals are awarded to "Canadians actively involved in their communities who, through their generosity, dedication, volunteerism and hard work make their communities, towns, cities, regions, provinces and territories a better place to live."

Of course I feel honoured to be chosen for this award especially given that I have a lot of respect and admiration for Senator Richards both on a personal and professional level.

Hi David, and congratulations!

It is indeed an honour you have received... and although you have painted numerous paintings of other places, you are perhaps, and above all, indeed, an ambassador for New Brunswick in the greater part of your work. A commendation well-deserved.

Dina

Thank you Dina. You raise a good point in that I have painted subjects in other countries. But my home, both physical and emotional, is in New Brunswick and I am sure that my approach to all subjects is coloured (excuse the pun) by my life experience from my home.

David, that is why your paintings are authentic, you know and feel your subject. That's really the only way of doing it.

Dina
